This coarse wood is fairly common in much of African where it has a wide variety of uses. It is also known as “Yaya” or “white wenge”, because although the color is nothing like wenge (thus the “white”) the grain can at times be strikingly similar to wenge.
This is an exotic hardwood but moderately heavy, and has a moderately fine texture, being very smooth to the touch.

This wood has quite distinctive figuring to it and is really beautiful. It’s a pale golden honey tone overall with beautifully contrasting stripes and a heavy, coarse grain. All sanded silky smooth.
